My name is Ruth Olurounbi, and I am a freelance journalist focusing on business, government and social issues. I have written for national and international organisations like The Nigerian Tribune, Bloomberg, Al-Jeezera, etc. I have really tried to like house animals and plants and failed. I like the ocean, sunsets and trees. Oh, I am a mom too!

I was recently in Nigeria, where I carried out a leadership function for a small conglomerate with interests in the energy and agricultural sectors. Prior to this assignment, I had served a number of stints as a government adviser on energy and mining policy matters for over a decade, a large part of this period being with the Commonwealth Secretariat in London.
My professional encounters with Ruth have focused on her journalism and several articles she has researched, written and published for various media houses. Her investigative abilities are quite refreshing, and her independence of thought is most remarkable. Recently, I have, on occasion, had the need to rely on these abilities of hers for my own investigations. Her turnaround time for work is very quick and, in my experience working with her, does not affect the quality of her research.
In addition to demonstrating strong independent research capability, Ruth has also demonstrated an ability to manage time and prioritise her deliverables, attributes which I found valuable to the timely completion of my own research during my postgraduate days at the University of Dundee.
